James Spader in Avengers: Age of Ultron

There is some big Avengers news!!! The big bad has been announced. It is going to Ultron! And he is going to be played by the infamous James Spader.

I am so excited!!! I think Spader is perfect for the roll! It has been proven in his cold and calculating roll in Boston Legal and the Practice, not to mention the previews in the Blacklist. He does that odd, cold and calculating thing really and I think that is going to pair with Joss Whedon’s Avengers fabulously!!

Joss Whedon did an interview with Entertainment Weekly on how his Ultron will differ from the comic book version. A big thing I see is that Whedon is going to do what he does best and humanize Ultron by exploring his pain. This could be awesome!

I can’t wait!!! How about you? Do you think Spader is great casting or a flop?

A Real Cabin in the Woods for Halloween

From Movies.com

From Movies.com

For anyone who hasn’t heard, I loved Cabin in the Woods. I am not a big horror movie person but I found Cabin in the Woods so much more. It followed in the fabulous Whedon tradition of witty writing and twisty plots. All that said it is still a horror movie;).

So for all of you who loved it for the horror movie aspect you might be excited to know that you can visit the Cabin in the Woods this Halloween at Universal in Orlando. It looks like the co-writer Drew Goddard is doing a maze and another story that runs along the original story (since we knew about various scenarios that were going at once).

You can even buy tickets now to make sure you get in! So what do you think about this? Are you going to check it out (or would you if it was closer to you)?

Much Ado is Coming!!!

We all heard the talk last summer that Joss Whedon had filmed a new version of Much Ado About Nothing while also filming The Avengers. But Whedon then went to shop it around studios and while Lionsgate had agreed to distribute, we hadn’t heard much. Well, here is a trailer and it looks phenomenal! Lionsgate and Roadside Attractions are going to jointly release it on June 7, 2013!!!

There is also a bus on its way to SXSW….

The Avengers: Buffy Style

You all know that I love Joss Whendon and The Avengers and Buffy. But what would the intro to The Avengers have looked like if Whedon had done it Buffy Style;). I find the work on this piece amazing! And yes, I usually post music on Monday but the theme counts as music. Right?

We Need More Enver!!!

About a week and a half ago NerdDad and I finally got a chance to watch Cabin in the Woods. And that made us want to rewatch Dollhouse. Which we did this last week. Which in turn led us to wonder about something….

Why don’t we see more of this actor??? Recognize this guy? Seems familiar, right? His name is Enver Gjokaj.

He seems to have bit roles in a variety of things but is rarely a regular in anything. He played Victor in Dollhouse and was phenomenal!!! The nature of the role is that he would play other personalities and you would expect them to be pretty good but since he isn’t actually mimicking anything…. Well the bar is kind of low. As long as his fake British accent was decent and he plays a believable soldier… But when he copies Topher Brink it is amazing!!!

I don’t know why we don’t see more of this actor!!!!!

Attention All Whedon Lovers!!!!

Do I have your attention? Today’s deal at Amazon is… A discount on all dvd’s that are Whedon. No, this doesn’t include Avengers but does inlude Firefly, Buffy, Serenity, Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog, and more!!! It even includes the original Buffy the Vampire Slayer movie!

As you all may or may not know, I love all things Whedon;). I already own some of these and may have to go do a little shopping. The real question is: Do I consult NerdDad or just buy a bunch of stuff and call it his Christmas present?

Coulson Lives

Coulson will be in the new S.H.I.E.L.D. tv series series!!!! Joss Whedon said he was the first person to be cast and that he couldn’t imagine the show without Coulson! I am stoked! So the question is…. Was it already planned for Phil Coulson to be in the television series when he was killed in The Avengers or was it the public demands?

Either way it is going to be awesome!!!

Eep!!! Joss, S.H.I.E.L.D., TV, JedMo, Breathe….

I recently posted about Joss Whedon signing on with Marvel to do the next Avengers movie, tv series and over all influencing the universe right? But as we all know tv development deals means we may never actually see anything so I wasn’t getting my hopes up to see anything soon.

But hopefully not in this case!! ABC has ordered a pilot for S.H.I.E.L.D.!!! It is the live action series that Joss Whedon will direct but it gets better than that!!! Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen will be writing with him!!! And that is JedMo that helped him write Doctor Horrible’s Sing Along Blog and we all know that was phenomenal;).

There is so much more to S.H.I.E.L.D. than what we saw in The Avengers so I think there will be more than enough material to have a series that runs forever!!!

Yes, I am doing the happy dance while I am typing!!! I can’t wait to hear more!!!!

More Avengers with Joss!!!

It is official!!! Joss Whedon is going to be writing and directing Marvel’s The Avengers 2. Woot! In addition to that he is also going to develop a live action series for tv!!!! He is also going to have a hand in the rest of the Marvel universe.

In addition to “Marvel’s The Avengers 2,” Marvel Studios will release a slate of films based on the Marvel characters including “Iron Man 3” on May 3, 2013; “Thor: The Dark World” on November 8, 2013; “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” on April 4, 2014; “Guardians of the Galaxy” on August 1, 2014; and “Ant-Man.”

I am so excited!!! By the way, I really do believe that this just became final. Whedon said at the Firefly panel at Comic Con that he wasn’t signed on yet.

**Update: The release date for The Avengers sequel is May 1, 2015***

Joss Report: From Comic Con

Ok, I am a geek who knows other geeks;). Lucky for me my friend (and social media client) Tracy is both at Comic Con and on Facebook! She also had the good taste to attend Joss Whedon’s thing tonight.

Here are some Cliff Notes:

-Much Ado About Nothing is a done and ready. Whedon is just looking for a distributor. (Might I suggest the internet so I can see it now? 😉

-Joss Whedon actually wrote the Much Ado About Nothing score

-For those who don’t know, Much Ado About Nothing was filmed at his house.

-Doctor Horrible (the first one) will be aired on the WB

-Doctor Horrible 2 will be happening but hasn’t been started yet.

-Whedon was tired;).
